#WorldofCars Disney Planes Shopping Brings Back Memories from Our Family History

By 12:34 PM , , , , , , , ,
With my excitement about the new Disney Planes the movie, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® , I had the opportunity to go shopping for Planes toys. This shop was compensated as part of a social shopper insights study.

I love Disney Pixar Films. In the last few years one of my favorite newer Disney movies is Disney Pixar Cars. So, I was really, really excited when they announced there was going to be a squeal to Cars the movie called Disney Planes the movie! How many of you have already seen this movie? If you have seen it what did you think?  I can not wait to take my nephews to go see it! That's on the to-do list as soon as we can find a free Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

On that note my nephew's birthday is coming up next week. He is going to be four (ah, he's growing up SO fast on me)! I knew for his birthday I wanted to get him a toy from Disney Planes since all he talks about is this movie but still wanted to do some research to find the perfect toy from this movie to give him!

While shopping Walmart's online website for the #WorldofCars campaign I came across a toy for Disney Planes that I knew I just had to get!

In case you can't tell from the picture it's an Aircraft Carrier Disney Planes toy! The reason I was so excited about this toy is because my father-in-law (nephew's grandfather) was in the Navy and served for many years on a Aircraft Carrier. My nephew has grown up hearing stories about the Aircraft Carrier days from his grandfather and will proudly tell anyone his grandfather was in the Navy. So when I saw this toy I knew it would be a major hit!

Here is a picture of it on the shelf along with some other cool toys (bottom right of picture):

I had so much fun shopping for the Planes toys and looking at all the awesome eye captivating displays. Since I don't have kids of my own yet I rarely get to shop the toy aisle and 'be a kid again' but love getting the opportunity to do so when I shop for my nephews.

One of my friends went shopping with me also and we had a blast checking everything out and even playing with a few toys in the aisle, haha.

If you want to see all the pictures from my Disney Planes shopping adventure check out my Google+ album here.

Want to hear a funny story? So I brought the Aircraft Carrier toy home and had set it on our kitchen counter. My husband and his friend saw it and thank goodness I caught them before they opened it. They practically begged me to let them open it and play with it, lol. They said it looked like a lot of fun! Oh boys, they never grow up!

What's your Disney Planes toy must have? Do you think I made a good choice in choosing the Disney Planes Aircraft Carrier?

I wanted to update you guys on what my nephew thought of his gift. To say he LOVED his Disney Planes toy is putting it lightly. Here's some photos of him playing with friends with his new toys (my favorite is the photo of the plane he threw up and got stuck in the tree...grandpa to rescue)!

The Struggle with the Pimple

By 9:00 AM , ,
This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Clearasil, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #SuperFruits http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

There are a few words that make me cringe. One of those words? Pimple. Seriously it's just a nasty word! Wouldn't you agree? Pimple. Yuck *cringe*. When I envision this word I instantly think of a nasty red dot in the middle of my forehead or chin kind of like the one below:

Ok, don't judge. That was a post makeup taken picture just for this post. Totally and utterly nasty, right! Don't we all wish we could have clear skin all the time? Fortunately, I have never had really bad acne. This means, much to my dismay, that when I do break out it is usually one big bump and it's usually right in the middle of my forehead.

I think we all have the desire to do all we can to battle breakouts and all strive for clear skin. One of the products I have recently started using in my daily skin regimen is the Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Scrub. This product is an acne medication that is gentle enough to use every day, twice a day. All the NEW! Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Cleansers are formulated with senatorial Superfruit Extracts and gently medicated with 1% salicylic acid acne medication to help prevent those ugly blemishes we all dread. As you can see below it is one of my must have products in my shower.

One of my favorite features about this particular cleaning product is that it smells good! Sometimes you get face washes that smell very "face wash smell" if you know what I mean. This one smells much more fruity than some of the others I have tried in the past and price point is right in line with competitors.

But the greatest advantage to using this product is that it has dramatically helped my skin improve as you can see below:

I highly encourage you to do yourself a favor and help your skin by using one of the Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Cleanser products! There is even have a $1 off coupon you can use to save on any NEW! Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Cleansers including the Wash, Scrub, or Pads. Try it out and let me know what you results you see!

Love Languages & Keeping Your Love Tank Full

By 12:11 PM ,
I am a big fan of the power of love languages. If you are not familiar with the love languages Gary Chapman developed I encourage you to check them out. The basic point is that there are five different kinds of love languages: gifts, physical touch, quality time, words of affirmation, and acts of service.

Everyone needs to feel loved. However, we all experience love in different ways. You might feel loved when your husband makes you a nice dinner, however, while I might like it if my husband made me a nice dinner I would feel more loved if my husband were to give me a back massage. Although we all have some aspect of each love language there are certain love languages that are stronger for each of us. My top three love languages are below:

The best advice I could give anyone who is beginning a marriage is to always strive to keep your spouse's love tank full. This was one of the pieces of advice we got in premarital counseling that really stuck with us and has made a huge difference in our marriage.

You should think of your husband's love tank very similarly to that of a gasoline tank. You want his tank to be always stay as full as possible. As long as your spouse's love tank is full they will never feel tempted to cheat or go search out love because they will be getting everything they need at home.

Now here's the key... by telling your husband over and over you love him and showing him so by keeping the house clean because those are the two acts of love that mean the most to you does not necessary mean you are keeping your husband's love tank full. You must show him love in his love languages and not your own. So, in the previous example, if his love languages are not words of affirmation and acts of service, although he might appreciate you telling him that you love him and keeping the house clean, it is not actually feeling his need for love.

I really encourage you to take the love language test with your spouse tonight and share the results with each other (it's available for free on Gary Chapman's website).  You might be surprised by the results and I can promise you if you apply these love languages to the love tank concept in your marriage you will never have to fear about your partner leaving you or not being happy.

If you are interested in reading any of Gary Chapman's book I would highly recommend them! You can get them for cheap off on Ebay.

My First Car Purchase

By 9:00 AM , ,

So my car has 165,000 miles and has had several issues with it lately. First of all it drinks oil. Seriously...we have to put several quarts of oil in it every few weeks which seem to evaporate into thin air. There is also something wrong with the belts. The final straw was when it wouldn't start a few weeks ago when I was trying to leave work. My husband, who I swear is superman, was able to put a band-aid on the issue but we aren't sure how long it will hold. All that to say we are in the market for a new vehicle.

Knowing that we will probably be expanding our family sometime in the future we are having to think about what vehicle would be the best fit for a growing family and could fit a car seat if need be. That being said I know I want some sort of cross-over vehicle, not a car, but not a SUV. I have driven a car my entire life and want to be in something bigger but really don't want to loose the benefit of getting good mileage or the ability to drive in the city easily.

This will actually be the first car I have ever purchased. My current car was my first vehicle and it was a gift from my parents when I was high school. I have been surprised at how stressful buying a car can be! I swear I think it has been much more difficult than it was to buy a house! At least when you buy a house you have a realtor to help you. There is so much to consider when buying a car. Factors such as cost, features, mileage, safety, etc. can become overwhelming as you search for that perfect vehicle.

Two of the vehicles I'm considering are the Kia Sorento and Kia Sportage. I especially like the added feature of the Panoramic Sunroof. S-e-x-y! The below pictures were taken off the Kia website:

Kia is a company that is still relatively new to the United States. This growing brand tends to keep value a priority while still emphasizing technology and sportiness. The mileage on both of these vehicles is really good considering and the price is a little bit less than comparables.

What is your advice for purchasing a new or used vehicle? Any tips? What's your favorite cross-over type vehicle?

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Day Trip to Tybee Island and Jellies

By 11:30 AM , , , ,
While we were in Savannah for our anniversary we took a day trip to Tybee Island. Tybee was only a 10 minute drive from where we were staying so we figured why not go? I had been before but the hubs had never been so we made the drive over the bridge and there we were...

I'll be honest...I think we have been spoiled by the Gulf Coast. The Atlantic in no way compares to the Gulf...it just doesn't! You can't see through the water and if you can't see through the water there is no anyway I'm getting in...especially after watching Shark Week all week, haha!

Our favorite thing about Tybee was taking a long walk down the beach together. You see the most interesting things and people on the beach. Really, they should do an entire what not to wear series on outfits you find at the beach. :) One of the other things that we found in the water was three really large jellyfish! The one pictured below was not even the largest one we saw (but it was the only one I was able to snap a photo of)...I wouldn't want to know what it would feel like to get stung by this bad daddy!

Several movies have been filmed at Tybee Island. If you have ever seen The Last Song with Miley Cyrus, you probably remember the pier from the movie. Actually the last time I was at Tybee Island they were in the process of filming that movie. Other movies filmed there are The Conspirator & Forest Gump.

We soaked up some rays, took a nap, and people watched before heading back to Savannah (oh and took pictures at the pier of course).

See what I mean about how dark the water is there?
I'm no way getting in that...especially after my brother's friend got a bite taken out of his leg by a shark a few years ago while in the water with my brother. No thanks. The water has to be super clear for me to brave it....not that I could get out faster than a shark could swim but at least I would see it coming...

An Affordable Way to Travel

By 2:19 PM , , , , ,

I mentioned last week that to celebrate our second wedding anniversary we went to Savannah for a long weekend. We stayed in the gorgeous carriage home to a lovely historic mansion (the back side of the home is pictured above) in Savannah only a couple miles from River Street and the entire weekend only cost $200! Wondering how I found such a great bargain? Through the discovery of a website called airbnb. Please note I am in no way being compensated for writing this post about airbnb (although I probably should be :)) but simply wanted to share with you guys because I am obsessed with this wonderful find of mine that allows you to travel afford-ably! Oh the possibilities it opens up in the world of travel... ;)

You might remember my post about VRBO a couple years ago...airbnb is a similar concept expect the difference is that it allows you to rent someone's condo, vacation home, or even extra bedroom! Basically think of airbnb as a similar concept to a bed and breakfast, although each scenario can be different.

The home we stayed in was actually the carriage house (the extra home above the garage) to the beautiful home pictured above. The best part? The entire weekend (we got there before lunch on Friday and left Sunday evening around 4pm) only cost $200! The carriage home was beautiful as was the main house and included very nice bikes we could use for the weekend, coffee in mornings, and a courtyard to enjoy in the evenings! We ended up having the entire property to ourselves as the owners were out of town while we were there.  Below are some pictures of where we stayed.

The picture below is of the side courtyard where you enter the carriage home
(here is the link to the house)

The photo below is of the carriage house from the drive

This photo is of the fireplace in the side courtyard available for use

Another view of the side courtyard from the carriage house

The below is another courtyard view of the bikes that we used to tour Savannah:
Very nice bikes with a lock!

The below is a photo out the window of the living room of the carriage house towards the drive

My handsome man in the courtyard!

The photo below is a picture of the staircase inside the carriage house

Here is  picture of the bedroom in the carriage house

Here's a photo of the kitchen and living room

And here's a photo of the carriage house where we stayed from the courtyard. Check out that stained glass on the door! Simply gorgeous!

I would just love to know the history of this home. The family who owns the home was not there while we were so we did not have a chance to meet them and get the story on the home but I can only imagine the wonderful parties and events that must have gone on here back in the day. Here is a photo of part of the house from the front.

All in all we had so much fun staying in this romantic home. It was so full of character and charm! We totally plan to stay there again on our next trip to Savannah!

I'm so excited about finding out about this website and am very excited to see what possibilities in travel this opens up for us! Can you imagine all the places we could go if the entire weekend was so affordable? I had looked at bed and breakfasts in Savannah for the same weekend the best price I could find was around $500...not to mention we wouldn't have been able to check in as early or leave as late...

Have any of my readers ever used this website? I would love to hear about your experience and recommendations! If not, I encourage you to give it a try and let me know what you think. However, fair warning...I am sure every home listed could would be a different experience and they may not all be as awesome as this experience. I encourage you to read the reviews and fine print before paying.
