It's Spa Week Time

By 12:15 PM , , , ,
One of the best weeks of the year has finally arrived...Spa Week! For those of you who are not familiar with this event Spa Week is one week out of every year when many spas come together to offer $50 treatments to customers with the goal of helping small businesses (spas and wellness centers) gain exposure while ensuring that women everywhere (since you all deserve it) can take advantage of affordable spa treatments during Spa Week which is October 14th-20th!

Spa Week features spa's in many large cities throughout the United States with services that range in normal price all the way up to several hundred dollars so I highly encourage you to check out the site and sign up for a service!

This year for Spa Week I had the privilege of trying out the 60 minute Relaxing Swedish massage at Evene Day Spa in Smyrna, Georgia (the room I received my treatment in is the first photo in this post). Evene Day Spa went above and beyond to make sure my massage was wonderful and I can not say enough good things about how kind the staff was at this spa. My massage therapist's name was Amanda and she was very knowledge about tension points and how to release them. The massage did a wonderful job of serving its purpose well in getting rid of some pretty nasty kinks in my back!

Overall I was impressed with my service. Normally this massage would cost $75 at this spa so at a price of $50 for Spa Week I would highly encourage you all to take advantage of this great price! Your back will thank you later!

Even if you do not live in Georgia I encourage you to go online and see what spas near you are participating in Spa Week October 14th-20th! Be sure to return and tell me about your experience.

Enjoy the pampering!

New Fall 2013 TV Shows

By 3:54 PM , , ,
One of the reasons I love fall is because it means the return of all the TV shows I love and the start of new shows to fall in love with :). Since this week marks the beginning of many of those shows I thought it would be fun to write a post featuring the five new shows this fall I am excited to watch.

1. Sleepy Hollow premiered Sept. 16th at 9 PM e on Fox
This series is supposed to be the perfect mix of spunk and spooky. It features a present day sheriff with an 18th century dude by the name of Ichabod Crane as the headless horseman. I thought it premiered this week and not last week so I still need to watch the first week's episode online before catching the second episode on my DVR tonight.

2. Hostages premieres tonight Sept. 23rd at 10 PM e on CBS
This is a suspense drama (one of my favorite genres) that stares Toni Collette as a surgeon thrust into a political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle. I have really high hopes for this show!

3. Trophy Wife premieres Sept. 24th 9:30 PM e on ABC
A reformed party girl finds herself an instant mom when she falls in love with a man who has three manipulative children and two judgmental ex-wives. This one has the potential to be really funny!

4. The Crazy Ones premieres Sept. 26th at 9:00 PM e on CBS
Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar together in a comedy? That's all you had to say to get my interest perked! This series is about a larger than life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired if he weren't the boss.

5. The Millers premieres October 3rd at 8:30 PM e on CBS
This show starts Will Miller who is a recently divorced reporter looking forward to living the single life until his parent's martial problem derail his plans. His mother ends up moving in with him which, of course, runs all his plans of single life. This show looks like it could be really, really funny!

Those are the five new shows I'm going to try! What new shows this fall are you excited to watch? Any I'm missing?

Diamond Candle Review & Giveaway

By 11:16 AM , , , , ,
I received this wonderfully smelling Diamond candle in the mail yesterday to try out and have the pleasure of giving one away to one of my awesome readers!

The neat thing about the Diamond candles are not only do they smell great (and really are a decent sized candle) but each candle has a ring inside that is worth anywhere from $10 to $5,000! You have to burn the candle half way down to retrieve your ring and determine its value! Fun, right?

I burned mine for several hours last night but still have a ways to go before I found out what the value of my ring is...the good news is my house smells wonderful! :)

Be sure to enter the giveaway below and check out Diamond candles

Football Season: My Favorite Time of the Year

By 4:14 PM , , , , , , , , ,
My favorite time of the year has finally season!

As a proud graduate of the University of Georgia (and as girl born and raised in the south) I bleed red and black and get way too excited over college football. Every Saturday I can guarantee you I am planted in front of the TV to watch our game (that is if I'm not actually at the game). I'm not shamed to admit that I'm one of those obnoxious football know the kind that let a football game control their mood and the kind that only want to watch football games with the friends that will only talk in the commercials... The good news is I'm only like that about UGA games. I'm fortunately not the kind that get like that over every game on TV. I mean if you add it up it's really only a couple hours a Saturday times a couple months, right? Haha, I'm just kidding. I'm really not that bad.

This year I joined a friend's ESPN college football pick 'em league which has been TONS of fun and really got me excited about a lot of other games that I used to not care as much about. Although unfortunately it's too late this year I have decided that next year I'm going to create my own league and invite all my blog friends to join! So get ready for a lot of year! If you want you can go ahead and start figuring the league out by downloading the ESPN CFB app. It looks like this:

When watching football I sort of like to go all out. I love setting up a at home tailgate to get everyone in the mood. Week before last (this week was Georgia's bi week) we had a "classy" tailgate and grilled out steaks. What goes better with a "classy" Georgia themed tailgate than Caprese Salad as an appetizer? I thought I'd share with you all my recipe in hopes that you too, can enjoy a "classy" Georgia themed red tailgate party this fall!

Really it's pretty much the easiest recipe ever....all you need is tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, olive oil and basil. Simply slice the tomatoes, slice a few pieces of mozzarella to put on top of the tomatoes, pick a few pieces of basil to put on top, then drizzle with olive oil. TA-DA! You have a delicious "classy" tailgate appetizer!

So who do you root for? Any die hard college football fans out there?

An Hour Worth of Yard Sale Finds: $17.20

By 11:34 AM , , ,
This past Saturday was one of the days I look forward to all year...our neighborhood's semi-annual neighborhood yard sale. Every spring and every fall our neighborhood has a huge sale where many houses participate in a community yard sale simply by putting a balloon on their mailbox. Our neighborhood was developed as a self-sufficient community complete with its own day care center, 18 hole golf course, lake, gas station, and restaurants & has thousands of homes so people come from all over when we have our neighborhood yard sale twice a year. Traffic is a nightmare!

Unfortunately I was not able to attend the sale in the spring as I was a bridesmaid in one of my best friend's wedding in Florida that day. That being said this past Saturday, the day of the sale, we also had plans as my nephew's 4th birthday party started on 10 AM that day. So we woke up extra early to hit the sales when they opened at 8 AM for an hour and half until we needed to head to the party.

There was TONS of traffic like there normally is on a yard sale day in our neighborhood and we only had an hour and a half to look so we did the best we could but I wish we could have shopped longer. So without further ado here are our findings from Saturday's yard sale in the hour-ish amount of time we had to shop:

Season 1 of Downton Abbey $4

I have heard nothing but great things about Downton Abbey and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give the show a try. Have any of you guys watched it? Is it any good?

Sheltie Salt and Pepper Shakers $0.20

I bought these for my mom since we use to have a Sheltie, Chipper, who passed away years ago but we still love Shelties as it is a sweet reminder of our dog Chipper.

Pool/Lake Float $1

Since the tornado we have been slowly re-collecting our assortment of floats/rafts/skis for the lake. At $1 this was a find I couldn't pass up.

Sifter from Pampered Chief $1

I have been needing a sifter for quite some time. The last time I needed one I bought one for like $8 from Kroger and it was awful and didn't work at all so I ended up returning it.

The game of Risk $1

Risk is one of my all time favorite games. I grew up playing it for days at a time with my dad and brother, because as you know if you have ever played Risk, it is a game that takes at least a week to play! When I got my own home I left my childhood game at my parents so when I saw this game for a $1 at a yard sale I knew I had to get a copy for my house as well.

Antique Trunk $10

I was pretty excited when we drove by a sale and spotted this trunk. When I asked her about the price and she responded with $10 I yanked out my wallet faster than you can say, "Go Dawgs." The trunk isn't in the best shape but for $10 I had to get it...I think with a little clean up it'll look great! I haven't decided if I am going to clean it up and keep it for myself yet or pass it on to someone else but either way I'm in love.

That was all of the steals I could make happen in an hour but all in all it was a pretty good hour if I do say so myself. :)

My New Hot Ride- Help Me Name Her!

By 2:22 PM , , , , , , , ,
I am SO excited to finally get to share with you what I decided to get for my new without further due...dun ...dun... she new joy ride!

That's right I ended up with a Lincoln MKX Mac-Daddy version. It is a used car with 40,000 miles but it has every add-on feature including, the one I'm most excited about, the panoramic sun-roof. I've been driving it for about a month and so far I LOVE it! Really the difference in the quality of the ride does not even begin to compare to my Mazda Millenia. I'll be honest...I wasn't crazy about the color...I really wanted a black MKX but when you are looking for a used car you sort of get what you get and I didn't hate the white's mine!

Here are some more pictures:

Many have asked me why I choose this car instead of the others I was considering...honestly I loved the Ford Edge but really wanted a lot of the nicer features that the Lincoln MKX offered. The Lincoln MKX is the luxury version of the Ford Edge and drives the exact same and is the same size so it was a no-brainer for me once I saw it.

Ok, now I need your help. Like any good car this ride needs a name and I'm taking votes! Give me your shout out for a good name for my new car and I'll announce the winner in an upcoming post!

PS: Don't buy the extended warranties a dealer will try to sell you! We got conned into purchasing one but fortunately were able to back out of it. Only problem is the warranty was built into our financing so my monthly payment will still be much higher than it should have been.
