The Stores with the Cutest Baby Boy Clothes: Coco&Beau

By 2:16 PM , , ,
When we found out we were having a boy I  immediately began to search for where I could get cute baby boy clothing. Let's be honest. There a a million cute outfits for girls. From bows to tutus the possibilities are endless! For boys it's a little harder to anyone who walks in to any store will notice...the size of the boy section is usually 1/3 the size of the girl section.

After visiting a couple stores and starting to get a little disappointed I decided it was time to hit up etsy. I was SO excited when I found Coco&Beau and delighted when Colleen, the 20 year old designer and owner of Coco&Beau, sent me the products pictured above including a short sleeve 3 month bodysuit with suspenders and a removable bow tie, a 6 month long sleeve bodysuit with a removable bow tie, and an additional pack of interchangeable bow ties! How adorable is that?

Colleen started Coco&Beau this past July. She came up with the idea for the store when a few of herfriends were expecting baby boys. Colleen quickly realized, like myself, that there just aren't as many trendy and unique baby boy outfits on the market as there are for girls so she started creating outfits as well as other accessories as a gift to her friends. They were a huge hit so she thought it would be a good way to combine her interests and passions by starting a business! She works full time in her home sewing and creating precious baby gifts for customers. The name Coco&Beau comes from her two family cats, representing that she will always strive to carry not only trendy baby boy clothing, but baby girl clothing as well. She will be soon be adding clothes for mom as well such as nursing scarves and t-shirts and even products for the home such as nursery decor and prints. I don't know about you guys but I can't WAIT to check out her new products!

Here are some more pictures of the adorable items she sent me. I can't wait to put our little cutie in them!

Colleen works hard to make sure each product is excellent quality at an unbeatable price!
She wants to offer my readers a 15% coupon in addition to her already great deals!

Touchdown or Pom-Poms Gender Reveal Party

By 9:38 PM , ,
So I am finally getting around to the promised post on our Gender Reveal Party we had a few weeks ago. Our theme was "Touchdowns or Pom-Poms" since my husband and I meant in high school (he played football and was the captain of the varsity football team and I cheered and was the captain of the varsity cheerleading squad). As such we thought the theme would be perfect for for our little one. :)

We sent out invitations that read:
Which will it be? You'll have to join the party to see!

The next step was the cake. I searched high and low for the perfect cake and actually ended up purchasing it at Sam's Club. It was perfect-tasted great, looked great, and you couldn't beat the price! Here is the photo:

The next step was to purchase blue balloons (we were going to do a balloon release to announce the gender). The hubby and I already knew what we were having but no one else did (if I am totally honest I actually enjoyed the 72 hours of just us knowing :)) since we knew we made sure to get some pre-party photos of us with the blue balloons.

We then stuffed the trunk full of the balloons and got it all ready for the big reveal.

As guests began to arrive they had to make their guess as to if they thought we were having a boy or a girl. If they thought a boy they were to pin a football to their outfit and if a girl they were to pin a pom-pom to their outfit. However, they could loose their "pin" if another guest heard them say the word 'baby.' This was one of our party games that lasted throughout the celebration and the winner went home with a prize. I made the pom-poms out of yarn and the footballs out of foam paper.

To assist with your guess I had filled out an "old wives tales" board with the answers to what the old tales said:

Because they could loose their guess if they said the word baby, and because I wanted a record of who guessed what, guests were also to write their guests on a big chalkboard I had and I had my hubby pick a number at the end of the party and and that person who guessed right also won a prize. Here is a picture of the chalkboard.

The prizes were a baby bottle full of razzles, bubble gum, and gift certificates!

I also had a gender reveal punch I made in pink and one in blue. The pink punch was pink lemonade and the blue punch was Hawaiian Punch and sprite.

For decorations I created a banner of ultra sound pictures of the baby that was on my mantel. I also created gigantic pom-poms in pink, blue, and green that hung over the food table.

Before we knew it it was time for the big reveal! If you haven't already watched the video you can do so here. The lady screaming before you can even see the balloons would be my mom. She was little excited I would say. :)

Once we made the announcement on gender we got to announce the name. I then had every guest sign his onsie I made with his name on it in the colors I am doing his nursery. That way I can tell him all the people who love him most and prayed for him before he was even born have their name in his room. :)

All in all it was a wonderful celebration and was a day we will not ever forget! We are thrilled to death about our little boy and feel so privileged and blessed our friends and family are as well! Our little man is so lucky to come into a world where so many people already love him!

Nursery Tour #1: DIY Hanging Pendant Light

By 2:18 PM , , ,

As you all know if you are loyal followers, we have been hard at work on our little man's nursery. I thought I would share with you all the latest DIY project we have completed in his nursery. We got the inspiration for this project while antiquing last weekend. While antiquing we saw a really neat light fixture made out of a old bottle. The particular store we were in was selling the fixture for $350 which was way out of budget. Together we started brainstorming ideas for neat things you could make into light fixtures and had the idea to make our own fixture out of a Hobart mixer whisk (the industrial size mixer...think a giant Kitchen Aid whisk).

We got on ebay and found a whisk for $50 (including shipping). We made our purchase and three days later it arrived at our front door. We then spray painted the whisk bronze (with an oil rubbed bronze spray paint we bought at Lowes) and went to Home Depot to purchase a fixture kit (it was $15.99). We followed the instructions on the fixture kit to set up the fixture, purchased a light bulb from Lowes, and hooked it up. Ta-DA! I LOVE the result! What do you guys think?

Shout-out to my College Readers

By 12:14 PM ,
To any of you who are in college do you know you could be saving big money (not to mention I have a way you could make some money)? It wasn't that long ago for me that I was in college and I remember how every penny counts during this stressful time in your life when you are swamped between classes, studying, and trying to maintain somewhat of a social life. Any easy way to save some money for me was very welcome!

One great way to do so is to rent textbooks instead of buying them!
Some perks include:
-you can save 40-90% off of bookstore prices buy renting
-there is free shipping both ways
-you can highlight in the textbooks
-there are flexible renting periods
-a donation is made to Operation Smile with each textbook rented

So check out today to start saving money!

Another great opportunity available to you guys is to utilize RentBack to rent the textbooks you own to other students! This is an awesome opportunity because it allows you to make 2-4x more money compared to what would you make through buyback options (selling your textbook back at the end of the semester)! Which means that's more money in your pocket to do a little end of semester shopping to reward yourself for such a successful semester! :) For real, this is one program I really wish I would have known about when I was in school because i can guarantee you I would have taken advantage of it.

15 Books to Read That are Coming out in Movies in 2014

By 10:22 AM ,

I was so excited to come across the below list of books that are coming out in theaters this year! The list was written by Chris Ritter from BuzzFeed. I used his list and added my own thoughts and feedback. Enjoy and please let me know if you end up reading any, and if so, what your thoughts are!

1. Labor Day by Joyce Maynard

What it’s about: Over the course of a Labor Day weekend in the late ’80s, 13-year-old Henry and his depressed mother Adele’s lives change when they harbor fugitive Frank Chambers at home. Frank fills a fatherless void for Henry and brings out life in Adele, all while the police are on the hunt for the escaped murderer. It’s a deeply moving read with unpredictable twists, and Kate Winslet is bound to shine as Adele in the film.
Amazon review: 4.2/5 stars
Release date: Jan. 31, 2014 (Click here to watch the trailer)
Starring: Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin

Chelsea's thoughts: This one is a def must see movie for me and a possible must read!

2. The Monuments Men by Robert M. Edsel and Bret Witter

What it’s about: Based on a true WWII story, museum curators, art historians, and others, collectively called the Monuments Men, risked their lives to save pieces of art that the Nazis planned to destroy. This book is a fascinating story about a rare WWII topic and shows how important it is to cherish artwork. As for the movie, the film features a great cast and it will be exciting to see everything unfold on the big screen.
Amazon review: 4.3/5 stars
Release date: Feb. 7, 2014 (Click here to watch the trailer)
Starring: George Clooney, Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bill Murray

Chelsea's thoughts: Anything WWII and I'm in...I found this one really interesting in that I just read an article in the New York Times a few weeks ago related to this exact same thing. I will def be watching this movie, however, I will probably pass on this book.

3. Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin

What it’s about: Orphan and mechanic Peter Lake attempts to rob a Manhattan mansion only to find Beverly Penn, the daughter who resides in the home Peter believed to be empty. Thus begins the love affair between a middle-aged Irishman and a fatally ill young woman in a magical New York City. If you’re looking for a novel laced with fantasy and romance, this is a good place to start. Hopefully Colin Farrell and Jessica Brown Findlay do the characters justice!
Amazon review: 3.9/5 stars
Release date: Feb. 14, 2014 (Click here to watch the trailer)
Starring: Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Russell Crowe

Chelsea's thoughts: I think I'll pass on this one...

4. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

What it’s about: St. Vladimir’s Academy is a school for dhampirs, vampire-human hybrids who serve as guardians, and Moroi, “good” vampires with an ability to use magic from one of the four elements (water, fire, air, and earth). Vampire princess Lissa Dragomir and dhampir Rose Hathaway are best friends, connected through a special bond that they can’t quite explain. After escaping school for two years, the girls are brought back to the academy and are faced with Lissa’s mystery element (or lack thereof?) and the danger it brings. The series is six books long, but definitely worth it, and the movie was created by the directors of Mean Girls.
Amazon review: 4.5/5 stars
Release date: Feb. 14, 2014 (Click here to watch the trailer)
Starring: Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Sarah Hyland

Chelsea's thoughts: You can count me out of anything about vampires...I just never could get in to Buffy...

5. Divergent by Veronica Roth

What it’s about: In a dystopian Chicago, society is split into five factions based on personality type (Dauntless, Amity, Erudite, Abnegation, and Candor). When Tris Prior finds out she doesn’t quite fit into any one faction, she’s declared Divergent, a dangerous revelation she must keep secret in order to survive. Once the Choosing Ceremony begins, Tris must decide to either join her family or follow her own path. The book is completely captivating and will keep you up at all hours of the night until you finish. All of the initiation scenes should translate great in film and the fear simulations will be even more exciting to see.
Amazon review: 4.6/5 stars
Release date: March 21, 2014 (Click here to watch the trailer)
Starring: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet

Chelsea's thoughts: This is a MUST read for me...I've heard great things about this series and that it is very similar to Hunger Games. It is on my list for must reads!

6. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

What it’s about: A tumor-shrinking medical miracle bought Hazel a few years of time, but she’s a terminal time bomb, suffering from stage IV cancer. At a support group for her illness, she meets fellow cancer survivor Augustus Waters, a boy who pretends to smoke cigarettes and has a prosthetic leg. With a shared obsession for the novel An Imperial Affliction and a similar sense of sarcasm, the two fall in love, despite their inevitable fate. John Green’s story is honest and hilarious, exposing the fear, anger, and sadness that accompanies a terminal illness. It’s an emotional read, and it’s bound to be a heartrending two hours at the movie theater.
Amazon review: 4.7/5 stars
Release date: June 6, 2014
Starring: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort

Chelsea's thoughts: Another must read and see for me, although I have a feeling I will bail my eyes out!

7. The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morais

What it’s about: When tragedy pushes Hassan and his family out of India, they eat their way around the world, settling in Lumière, a small town in the French Alps. The family opens an Indian restaurant that becomes wildly popular among the residents, infuriating their French rival Madame Mallory. After she wages a culinary war with the family, Mallory finally agrees to mentor Hassan, leading him to Paris and the launch of his own restaurant. The novel is endearing, cultural, and a downright delicious read. Not only does Helen Mirren star in the movie, but it’s also produced by Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg.
Amazon review: 3.8/5 stars
Release date: Aug. 8, 2014
Starring: Helen Mirren, Manish Dayal

Chelsea's thoughts: I do not have an interest in reading this book but I might rent this movie once it comes out on DVD.

8. The Giver by Lois Lowry

What it’s about: Everything is perfect; diseases have been eradicated, everyone is equal, and society is under control. Each person is assigned a position by the Community, and 12-year-old Jonas has been picked as the “Receiver of Memories.” Only “The Giver” knows the truth of the past, and he must now pass that information down to Jonas. This book has often been described as the first YA dystopian novel (in correlation with the current trend) and it shows that a utopian society has its downsides, like a lack of personal freedom. Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep make this a highly anticipated movie, and hopefully Taylor Swift will prove her acting chops.
Amazon review: 4.3/5 stars
Release date: Aug. 15, 2014
Starring: Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgård, Taylor Swift

Chelsea's thoughts: I actually read this book in middle school. It was only alright in my opinion.  I find it very interesting that Meryl Streep and Taylor Swift are both going to be in the movie and might see it for that very reason alone!

9. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

What it’s about: Libby Day was 7 when her mother and two sisters were brutally murdered in an event known as “The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas.” She testified that the person responsible for the cruel acts was in fact her 15-year-old brother, Ben. Fast-forward about 25 years and Libby is approached by the Kill Club, a group of people obsessed with solving notorious crimes. They believe Ben was wrongly accused, and she is eventually sucked into the investigation to uncover the twisted truth. Christina Hendricks plays Charlize Theron’s mom, so that should be interesting!
Amazon review: 4.2/5 stars
Release date: Sept. 1, 2014
Starring: Chloë Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Charlize Theron, Christina Hendricks

Chelsea's thoughts: I have heard from several friends that this is a MUST read. It is on the top of my list to read this year. I def want to read this book before watching the movie.

10. This Is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper

What it’s about: Judd Foxman’s father just died, and on top of that, his wife Jen had an affair with his boss, which recently became painfully public. Judd is forced to sit Shiva and spend seven days and nights with the dysfunctional Foxman clan, facing confrontation and dealing with old grudges. The book is hilarious and the movie features Jason Bateman and Tina Fey. Enough said.
Amazon review: 4.2/5 stars
Release date: Sept. 12, 2014
Starring: Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Rose Byrne, Adam Driver

Chelsea's thoughts: This is another one I would like to see in theaters but will probably pass on reading.

11. The Maze Runner by James Dashner

What it’s about: When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he remembers is his name. His memory is blank, and he’s surrounded by a group of boys in a place called the Glade, a large space entrapped by tall, stone walls. Every 30 days another boy is delivered, but when a girl named Teresa appears in the lift the next morning, her presence is almost as unexpected as the message she delivers. The language is a little tough to get through in the beginning, but once you catch on to the lingo, you’ll be racing to find out what happens. It’ll be very interesting to see how the book is translated in film, especially with the monstrous creatures called Grievers.
Amazon review: 4.3/5 stars
Release date: Sept. 19, 2014
Starring: Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario

Chelsea's thoughts: sounds interesting don't you think?

12. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

What it’s about: It’s Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary when Amy mysteriously disappears. Nick is oddly evasive and evidence is slowly going against him, but did he really kill his wife? Gillian Flynn’s novel is packed with suspense, twists, and plenty of emotions. Readers are pretty split on their feelings about the end, but the entire book is definitely thrilling and the movie will probably be just as captivating.
Amazon review: 3.8/5 stars
Release date: Oct. 3, 2014
Starring: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike

Chelsea's thoughts: I have heard nothing but great things about this one as well. I def want to read this one before it comes out in theaters!

13. Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

What it’s about: This true story follows Louis Zamperini, a track star from the ’30s and a participant in the Berlin Olympics. Zamperini became an airman in WWII and in May of 1943, his plane went down, leaving him adrift in the Pacific Ocean with nothing but a raft. Facing starvation, dangerous waters, and a situation in which he is taken prisoner by Japanese forces, this fascinating account is both vivid and powerful. The film is directed by Angelina Jolie.
Amazon review: 4.8/5 stars
Release date: Dec. 25, 2014
Starring: Garrett Hedlund, Jai Courtney, Domhnall Gleeson

Chelsea's thoughts: Oh, sounds soo good! What do you guys think? For me it's a read and watch!

14. Wild by Cheryl Strayed

What it’s about: Twenty-something Cheryl Strayed lost her mother and her marriage all in a short amount of time. Four years later, with nothing to lose, Strayed took an 1,100-mile solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail in order to deal with her catastrophic past. This honest memoir is filled with suspense and humor, a journey worth the read. Reese Witherspoon takes on the role of Strayed and she’ll probably be her usual charming self.
Amazon review: 4.2/5 stars
Release date: 2014
Starring: Reese Witherspoon

Chelsea's thoughts: I love Reese Witherspoon and plan to see the movie but will probably pass on the book.

15. Serena by Ron Rash

What it’s about: The book is a thrilling story that follows newlyweds George and Serena Pemberton on their journey to create a timber empire and ruthlessly kill all who fall out of favor. George fathered an illegitimate child, and when Serena discovers that she cannot bear children, she sets out to kill the son George fathered without her. If Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper’s previous films together are any indication of their chemistry, then it’s guaranteed this movie will be a must-see.
Amazon review: 3.8/5 stars
Release date: 2014

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper

Chelsea's thoughts: Maybe...I'm undecided on this one..I think movie yes and book no?

What is your top must read and top must see from this list?

We're having a...

By 4:19 PM , , , ,
I had a wonderful weekend full of a fun day of antiquing for the baby's room Saturday with the hubs and then we had our Gender Reveal Party Sunday (more details and pictures to come soon).

Here is the gem we found while antiquing for the baby's room (this will be painted grey but still very excited about it):

For all of you who follow me on instagram or facebook you already know the gender of our baby but for those of you who don't here you are (if you don't you should so you don't miss out on all the exciting moments of my life since they tend to get posted much quicker to social media)...

Ok, mommies! I'm officially out numbered ;)! Any tips?!?

Nesting in the New Year: What to Do Before Baby Comes

By 3:31 PM ,
Me and the hubs couldn't be more excited about the new year, because we are going to become parents in 2014! Yesterday marked a very special day for us because we found out the gender of our baby!!! (Sorry can't share until after Sunday when we have our Gender Revel Party)!

We paid a little extra to have a 2D ultra sound and a 3D ultra sound where they took lots of pictures and video and it was AMAZING! Here is a preview shot below of Baby T:

I am really beginning to get the urge to clean, organize, de-clutter, and redecorate my home. I'd say that the nesting is kicking in big time! And I'm excited because after this weekend we can officially begin to start on the nursery! Whohoo!

I have a list of pre-baby projects that are on the top of my New Year's Resolutions and might should be for you as well if you are having a baby in 2014:

1. Put your paper 'junk' together: even more important than a well decorated nursery are your child's medical needs and daily care. Before anything else you need to find a pediatrician and make sure insurance is in order. Another important task to do if you are going back to work (like me) is to start thinking about childcare and maternity leave and working through all those details and paperwork.

2. Tackle your budget: it's no secret that children cost money! I have already begun to read up on how and where to get the cheapest diapers. I came across this article and thought it was very interesting (if not a tad stressful, I guess I need to start stocking up now?!?)

3. Organize: prioritize the projects that will be most useful for you with a new baby at home. For me this means starting with the baby's room and closet but also cleaning out and making space in our areas the baby will be in often such as living room and kitchen cabinets (think baby bottles).

4. Baby proof your house: time to start putting those plug protectors in and cabinet locks on!

5. Finish/Start Baby's Room: decorating, organizing, and stocking the baby's room is one of the most fun parts if you ask me! From painting to assembly the crib and finding the perfect lamp these are all tasks that will be easier to achieve prior to baby's arrival.

6. Pencil in time for yourself: make sure that you are in order and peace! Remember even though you will love your baby you will be operating on low margins of time and energy once he or she arrives. Take time now to schedule a pedicure or read a book!
What other tips do you guys have for new mommies to be like myself?
