DIY Ironing Board Holder

By 10:48 AM ,
So I got a little crafty last night and wanted to share with you all my latest DIY project for a DIY Ironing Board Holder.  This project was very easy to make and cost only $5!

As you can see from the above picture it is just as functional as an over the door ironing board holder but much more attractive. Plus I dislike the over the door holders as they hit the door and thus are noisy whenever you want to open or close the door...not to mention they scratch up the door.

To make this project the only thing I had to purchase was the hooks. They were $2.50 a piece at Lowe's. I then cut an old pallet board down to the size I needed and sanded and stained it. The only step left was to screw in the wall hooks into the pallet board. Ta-DA!

I'm loving the finished result. Told ya it was an easy project!

Nursery Tour #6: Custom Lamps from Perrelle Designs

By 10:16 AM , , , ,
I am excited to share with you the newest post in a series of posts on our little guy's nursery. This post features the adorable custom lamp in his room from Perrelle Designs!

Jon and his brother, Jeremy, decided to take their love for building and invention and turn it into a business. Jon and Jeremy, along with their father, Neal, founded Perrelle Designs (a family based company out of their family home in LaGrangeville, NY) and began making their first product, The Letter Lamp, in 2012. The Letter Lamp is the only personally customized lamp available on the market today. Jon, Jeremy and Neal hand make every letter lamp out of durable and beautiful hardwoods (each lamp is made out of durable 5/4" thick hardwood from a local lumberyard), shaping them into a letter of the alphabet. They also make names, words, acronyms, or abbreviations upon request.

One of my favorite aspects of the lamps (since I am using it in a nursery) is that they use UL listed parts for all their lamps and non-toxic/child-safe paints. They also hand-make all the lamp shades in a room inside their family house.

Currently, they specialize in children's desk/table lamps and lamp shades but they do sell a few more traditional "spindle" lamps that they make by hand-turning them on a lathe. Basically these guys are master woodcraft men :)! They are also happy to to custom make other furniture or decor upon request. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the quality of lamp and you simply can not beat the handmade flair! Here is another photo of the lamp in his room on his night stand:

Because everything is handmade, they specialize in customizing lamps! Their standard lamps are letters and animals but they have made everything from a golfer as the base of the lamp to a skull with crossbones as a base. (I'm thinking a bulldog would be awesome for my University of Georgia themed bonus room)! They can also customize the lamp shade to any fabric that is available from their supplier or that a customer provides them with. The lamps and lamp shades truly are unique and one-of-a-kind!  They are the only maker of Letter Lamps anywhere and currently have a patent pending on the design.

They sell almost exclusively through their Etsy shop. However, if someone is interested in ordering outside of Etsy, you can contact them via email at perrelledesigns@gmail.com or by phone at (845) 416-4133.

I have some exciting news! Perrelle Designs is offering my readers an extra 10% discount off their purchase from their Etsy store by using code: MFJ001

This Etsy store truly is a unique, awesome, find that I'm sure many of you will want to become customers of! Here are some photos of some of the other lamps they currently have for sale on their Etsy shop that I really like:

Why Does God Allow Bad Things to Happen to Good People?

By 1:13 PM ,
Why does a loving God allow bad things to happen to good people? That's a tough question to answer and one that every Christian struggles withat one point or another in their walk through life.

My pastor, Jeff Chandler, tackled this very question during his sermon yesterday and I think he did an awesome job with it so I wanted to share with my readers.  I'm not sure what you might be struggling with right now in your personal life but I hope that watching his sermon through this link gives you some insight into a different perceptive.

The biggest takeaways for me are that although we will never truly know the answer to that difficult question on why God allows conflict and suffering it is important to remember that it might be to 1) draw you closer to Him; 2) for the greater good of His people.

Please watch the video and let me know what you think!

Our Weekend in Review: LEGOLAND Discovery Center

By 12:30 PM , , ,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We surely did. The weather was BEAUTIFUL in Georgia in this weekend. We are talking 70 degrees guys! What a welcome change!

We took this weekend (one of our only free weekends pre-baby believe it or not) to spend some quality time with our nephews. We decided to take them to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Atlanta and had a BLAST! They were the perfect ages for the center (2.5 and 4.5)! Their eyes were lite up the entire day!

Our four year old nephew told us on the way home, "that was the funniest day ever!" When we asked them what their favorite thing about LEGOLAND was they both said the Lazor Blast Ride was their favorite but they also really liked building race cars and the 4D theater. If you were to ask my husband he and I both really enjoyed the MINI-LAND where their was a full replica of the city of Atlanta made out of legos. Below are some photos from the highlights of our fun day.

I would highly encourage everyone to go if you have a nephew or son ages 2-10! We had a blast! Don't forget you can download a coupon through my previous LEGOLAND post here.

How are you supposed to clean your baby's nose?

By 10:42 AM , , , ,
As a soon to be mommy I have spent a lot of time lately researching the best products on to the market to get for my baby. One particular product that I have noticed has gotten a lot of attention lately is nose aspirators. I recently watched an episode of The Doctors were they cut open one of those plastic nose aspirator bulbs and showed that there was mildew in the middle of the bulb. I was totally grossed out and my interest was sparked.

On the Doctors they instead recommended using something similar to the BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator. They said it works better because it uses your own suction. Think about it: your own lungs are a strong, natural vacuum cleaner - much more powerful than a tiny bulb or battery-powered motor. And the result is just a more effective method of clearing your baby's sinuses and does not allow for mildew to form inside the bulb or at least if it does it allows a way for you to clean it!

My intentional fear was that I would suck boogies into my mouth but thankfully that is not possibly because the design of the receptacle and the tissue filter that you insert into the body of the aspirator. This is why pediatricians are recommending BabyComfyNose to moms and dads. Recently, Dr. Sears of The Doctors TV Show recommended the BabyComfyNose as the best way to clear babies' noses. Take a look at the video 'How to Use the BabyComfyNose' here www.babycomfycare.com to see how well it works.

Lindsay was so sweet and sent me this adorable chevron yellow, gray, and blue pillow cover for baby's nursery. I know, I know. I need to get crib sheets and bedding. They are on the registry. :) In the meantime the pillow cover totally compliments the room and I was excited I found a pillow to go in the cover for only $5 at Joanna's.
Lindsay sales lots of other beautiful hand-sewn goods at her shop such as pillow covers, baby blankets, bulletin boards, and cute little outfits for kids. Here are some of my favorites:

Gorton's Real Fabulous Review

I LOVE Gorton's fish! For a working mom-to-be like me Gorton's makes a great, easy, delicious dinner. All I have to do is throw some fish in the oven, heat up some veggies, and call it a day!

What some of you might not realize is that Gorton's has a line of "healthy" grilled fish. With Lent right around the corner (for those of you that celebrate it) Gorton's grilled product selections would make a great addition to your menu plans. My favorite are the Tilapia Signature Grilled Fillets. The fillets are soft and perfectly flaky inside and don't taste like frozen fish at all to be honest with you! Sprinkle a little lemon juice on them and they make a delicious, healthy entree!

Gorton's Grilled Tilapia offers all the freshness and quality we would expect from the brand. In fact, the box even carries a label showing that it is Five Star Tilapia. According to the carton, the Gorton's Five Star Tilapia is given because this lean-cut fish is white and flaky, possesses a mild flavor, is quick-frozen for freshness, and is "100%" inspected for quality and safety.
Gorton's Grilled Tilapia can be cooked in either a microwave or oven. I chose to cook mine in the oven, which requires a 400-degree setting. You then place the tilapia seasoned-side up in an aluminum foil-lined metal pan and let the grilled tilapia fillets cook for 18 to 20 minutes. That's eat! Remove from the oven and enjoy!

Gorton's products have become one of our our favorite easy weeknight dinners. Whether we cut up the fish fillets and add them to a salad or simply serve the fillets or sticks with fries for a delicious fish and chip dinner both ways take very little time and taste great!
