Some Weeks are Hard

By 3:29 PM , ,
The last week and a half + have been really, really hard...with the exception of Monday night we have not been able to sleep through the night in 10 nights. Our poor baby has not been himself. It has been so hard to watch him be in such pain. We have been to the doctor three times in less than a week.

We finally determined he has a double ear infection. We started the antibiotics, ear numbing drops, and Tylenol/Ibuprofen regiment Monday evening and that night he finally slept through the night and was himself Tuesday morning. Then he woke up Tuesday from his nap he was in extreme pain again. Last night he was up in tears all night and today he has done nothing but whimper in pain and slept/rest/lay on my chest. We have tried it all. Drugs. Essential oils. The works. Nothing is working. If you don't believe me here is proof. Poor, pitiful baby.

All that to say through this awful experience I am learning that I can handle physical exhaustion but it is the emotional exhaustion that is really terrible. Knowing your baby is in pain and miserable and there isn't anything you can do about it is one of the most terrible feelings in the world. I am comforted in knowing nothing can last forever and we have wonderful friends and family praying for healing but man...some days/weeks are hard!

What have you done to make your sweet baby feel better? Any advice for me? Also, does anyone use oils? I am doing a lot of research to try to determine if the oils are safe for my baby and if so how to use them and am debating purchasing the starter kit.

On a happier note our sweet boy was 8 months old this week! I managed to get some pictures in our monthly stickers prior to his pain really kicking in.  We are so thankful for the huge blessing he is our family...even in the sleepless nights and through all our tears he is precious. I never know such love was possible.

His vocabulary now includes "mama, dada, hey, and yeah." He is crawling everywhere and has just begun to pull up on things.

Loves: other children, music, instruments, dogs, and being outside

He is an extremely curious baby and wants to feel, touch, and taste everything! He talks ALL the time! He has been having a very hard time teething but nothing has popped through the gums yet. He also still suffers from reflux and we have been referred to a GI this month.

Hello everyone! This is Tiffany. Wow- there were so many great posts. This week I picked a blog post that resonated with my current needs. I have been trying to carve out a little time every week just for myself. As a mom, it can be really hard to make myself a priority at times. I will wait to pluck my eyebrows until they are fully grown out, or I might make excuses why I don't have time to go on a run. The truth is, it is good for me and my family to take care of myself. A morning run or a hot bath can go a long way!
I loved this post because it is a very simple concept to practice self care, but for many of us it is a really challenging habit to implement. I think it is really important.
Check out Sheryl's blog, How to make a life. You will love it!
Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

Jackpot Candles Review + Giveaway

By 4:02 PM , , , , ,

It is hurt your face cold in Georgia. Like it's 3 o'clock in the afternoon and it's 20 degrees outsides. TWO. OH. Ok so all you Northerners are laughing at me but come on people! This is Georgia! Thank goodness I received this wonderfully smelling Jackpot candle in the mail just in time to warm up on this blistery cold day. Not only that but I have the pleasure of giving one away to one of my awesome readers!

The neat thing about Jackpot candles are not only do they smell great (and really are a decent sized candle) but each candle has a piece of jewelry inside that is worth anywhere from $15 to $5,000! Another neat thing about this company is that they are family owned and operated and all their 100% soy candles are produced in Buffalo, NY.  You have to burn the candle half way down to retrieve your ring and determine its value! If that doesn't encourage you to burn a candle I don't know what will. I mean how fun?

I burned mine for several hours last night but still have a long ways to go before I found out what the value of my ring is...the good news is my house smells wonderful and it makes this blistery cold day seem not as cold! :)

Love Weekend Shenanigans & Weekend Finds

By 4:24 PM , ,
I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's weekend! I know Valentine's Day gets a lot of slack. And yes I agree it is a Hallmark holiday. But I still love it. A day all about chocolate, flowers, and expressing your love for others? Sign me up!

This year I was so lucky to have two Valentine's. My incredible hubby and sweet baby boy. These two melt my heart! In half.

We decided to spend our Valentine's Day as a family at the antique market and then go to an early dinner. We had a blast and found some great finds I thought I would share with you.

We were so excited to find the bottom two potato and meal sacks. We plan to use old barn wood to frame them and hang them in our living. We were inspired by Joanna Gaines from HGTV's Fixer Upper on this project. (Side bar: I LOVE THIS SHOW! Everything about it. The family dynamic, the style, the decor...love it all! Whose with me?) We paid $15 for these two sacks then walked a few exhibits down and found the top two for $5. I couldn't pass up the great deal and decided to purchase them as well to make in to pillows for my front porch.

Our next find was this old Pepsi crate. We loved it and paid $10 for it. Now I just have to figure out how I want my arrangement to look on the table. I know, I know. It needs more than pine cones.

Next was the find above....I just really like it and thought it would be cute on the built in book shelves with some greenery in it. We paid $20 for this item.

Last but not least was the galvanized "Love" sign that we hung over our bed. This was probably my favorite find of all! We paid $35 for it but I think it makes our room.

We concluded the weekend with a big breakfast Sunday morning and babysitting our nephews and niece.

Hope you all had a lovely V-Day weekend!

Date Night Bust

By 12:24 PM , ,
Ever have one of those nights were you have all the right intentions and your plan just doesn't work out? That's the kind of date night we had Saturday night. Let me back up.

We have worked out the sweetest and best arrangement with my brother and sister in law in which one day/night a month we swap kids so each us get a free date night and some precious time with our nephews/niece. It's the perfect deal for everyone.

We had the joy of watching our two nephews and niece a few Saturdays ago. (Let me tell you four kids 5 and younger is no joke)! We had a blast running around and playing and were ALL exhausted come bed time. Here are the youngest two thinking I'm crazy.

And a photo of all four before bedtime. Cue the madness.

This past Saturday was our turn. We dropped the little guy off and headed off for our first date in several months (and only second attempt at a date since the little guy was born--he is 7 months old ya'll)! I am a big advocate of dating your spouse and the importance of maintaining your relationship first and foremost. I'm not going to lie...at this stage it is certainly easier to skip it and stay home but I do think it is very important to dress up and get away with your spouse. And we had the best of intentions in mind to do just this!

Our plan was to get a drink, have an early dinner, and then catch a seven o'clock movie and pick up the little guy to get him home in bed in a somewhat reasonable time in case he woke up when we got home. The dinner and drink was a success. We had a great time catching up with each other. We talked about our family, work, friends, the little guy, and even reminisced about when we first starting dating (9 years ago! DANG). When then headed over to the theater and were there 40 minutes before the movie. That's where it all went wrong. Would you believe that all the seven o'clock movies were sold out?!? We were bummed. We haven't seen a movie at the theater in 5 months!

Time for Plan B. We decided it would be fun to head to our local town (the same town Walking Dead is filmed in) and get coffee and just chat. So we drove the 15+ mins only to find out the town was shutdown. Who closes at seven o'clock on a Saturday night.

We had a few minutes where we felt like losers. We love our city but there really is not a lot to do without going in to Atlanta. We were struggling for ideas.
"We could go home and watch a movie."
"Yeah, but if we do that might as well pick up the little man first because he will sleep anyway then we don't have to go back out when we are tired."
First chance to get out by ourselves....no limit on time and we were back ready to pick up the little guy at seven?

Then we realized you know what...we may not have gotten to see our movie or had a long date night but we DID go out and we had a very enjoyable dinner. Mission accomplished.
See I told you all I wanted a blog not about our perfect life but how about seeing the beauty in the imperfection and this the perfect example!

Hello February

By 1:19 PM ,
Oh hey Monday, we meet again! I hope everyone had a lovely start to their February. We had a very relaxing weekend. Something that was much needed for our household as we have all had colds the past few weeks. Seriously guys: the hubby, baby, and myself all took a 2.5 hour nap Saturday afternoon. GLORIOUS.

Sunday afternoon was spent playing on the floor with the little one. As two working parents we try to soak up every moment we can making memories with the little guy on weekends. I have to share the video we took of him yesterday afternoon. This kid loves music.

Speaking of weekends. We stayed home to watch the Super Bowl last night so the baby could get to bed on time. It's amazing how much our life has changed in one year, huh? Personally I loved Katy Perry's half time show but I know it go mixed reviews from my co-workers. What were your thoughts?

My hubby started a new job today...HUGE praise as it is very close to home (he has been commuting through prime traffic 1.5 hours each day) so the fact that he will spend less than 45 minutes total time in the car is something we are thrilled for and praising God over.

Hope everyone has a great start to their week!
